Delegation Celebrating a Decade of
Zapatista Autonomy and Resistance

December 27, 2003- January 4, 2004

January 1, 1994 is a day not easily forgotten in the minds of the capitalist elite. The day that marked the inauguration of the heralded NAFTA was marred by the re-birth of indigenous resistance. The festive faces in Mexico City's elite ballrooms turned to frowns as word came from Chiapas that the Zapatistas had occupied towns and ranches throughout the state in a public strike for democracy and against oblivion and genocide. Jan. 1, 2004, the ten-year anniversary of that triumphant action, will be a celebration of remembrance and resistance.

Join a delegation celebrating 10 years of Zapatista resistance. Participants will spend three days in San Cristobal, receive an orientation on the struggle, and meet with indigenous and non-indigenous organizations involved in creating alternatives to corporate centered globalization in Chiapas and globally. Then the group will travel to indigenous communities in resistance for a few days to meet with autonomous authorities and participate in the 10-year anniversary festivities. It will fill your soul! This delegation will fill up, so reserve your spot today.

The cost of the delegation is $500 plus airfare. The delegation fee covers ground transportation, lodging, food in the communities, translation and program. Delegation applications are available at www.mexicosolidarity.org/delegationform.html.

A limited number of partial scholarships are available for youth of color
